Hyderabad, June 21st: Hyderabad students of various junior colleges secured top ranks in the Eamcet-2009 released on Sunday. The marks for the same were already released on June 1 and with the decision taken by the government to give 25 percent weightage of intermediate marks in determining Eamcet ranks, the students are made to wait for the final ranks till the release of the intermediate results.
Out of the top 10 ranks in engineering stream, 6 ranks were bagged by Hyderabad students, eight students from the city made it to the top in the medical stream. While the girl students excelled in top medical ranks, boys were given a chance in engineering stream. Mr. Gannavarapu Gopala Krishna Murthy of Narayana College topped in engineering stream, while Ms Nalla Raveena of Sri Chaitanya College was ranked first in the medical stream.
In all, 2, 41,507 of the total 3, 02,646 students who appeared for engineering stream of Eamcet have qualified, registering a pass percentage of 79.80. In the medical stream, 52,792 students have qualified out of 62,656 appearing for the exam, recording a pass percentage of 84.26 percent. After taking 25 percent weightage for inter marks the pass percentage in the engineering stream dipped from 89.90 percent to 79.80 percent. It came down to 84.26 percent from 96.32 percent in medical stream.
